Which Affiliate Marketing Ideas Are Worth Looking At?

The range of Affiliate marketing ideas – products you can sell online as an affiliate seem to be limitless. I learned about a surprising one from a friend recently and am bombarded by affiliate marketing ideas by email daily. Not many of them are attractive to me personally but they are proof that as a business model, affiliate marketing has a lot of scope. Here are 6 things to consider.

In short if you have a grasp of online marketing and can drive enough traffic to an offer, the sky is the limit for affiliate marketing ideas these days. My friend ws telling me about a new affiliate product that can be installed on a mobile phone for example. It then gives you access to that phone so that you can see what’s been texted from that phone and any pictures that are taken with it. You can even get the phone to take a sneaky picture remotely!

As affiliate marketing ideas go this is probably a good one – jealousy and suspicion are popular human emotions after all! It may be a little questionable morally but that’s a personal decision. It does back up my point though. So given that there is no shortage of affiliate marketing ideas to profit from, how do you pick a winner?

Affiliate Marketing Ideas – Picking A Winner

  1. Is there a big enough market for it? There are plenty of places online to research that. You can start with Google, Bing and Yahoo to get an idea of how many people are looking for a particular product. You can look at what’s selling on Amazon and Ebay and you can check specialist sites such as Quantcast for statistics.
  2. Is the profit margin good enough? Roughly speaking affiliate marketing ideas can be divided into low ticket and high ticket. Low ticket gives you a small commission on low cost items so you need to sell a lot of them to make it worthwhile. High ticket items give you bigger margins but are harder to sell, although you need fewer sales.
  3. What’s the refund rate? Often with the low ticket stuff there is a high return rate and therefore high clawbacks on your commissions.
  4. What is the cost per sale? With all affiliate marketing ideas you will incur advertising costs to promote them. If it’s costing you $50 to make a $30 profit it’s a loser unless….
  5. Is there an upsell? Very often with affiliate marketing the initial sale is just the first part of a sales funnel and leads to higher cost sales further down the line. Check if this is the case and if it is does do you make commission on the future sales? With low-ticket items you often don’t so this is important. Amazon for example works on a cookie set up so that if you drive a customer to them for a specific item but they buy something else you still get credit.
  6. Do the numbers stack up? Sometimes as with the example in point 4 they don’t at first glance but take another look. With Six Figure Mentors for example I would happily spent $100 to get a $29.95 sale. Why??

Because the statistics over time prove that a high percentage of people who buy the £29.95 application pack in this case, go on to become full members earning £200 in commission. Of those people around 25% will then upgrade within the system earning a commission of between $1000 and $8000. That’s what is known in the world of affiliate marketing ideas as a tuned and dialled system.

The high-ticket market is the one for me. It does require a far higher degree of targeting to find the right customers but ironically the people who spend most complain least and ask for refunds far less often.Take a look at leading digital marketer Stuart Ross’s explanation of why high ticket affiliate marketing ideas are the way to go by clicking on the link underneath.
