SFM’s Seriously Simple Lead Capture Pages DBL

Simple lead capture pages is one of the components within SFM’s Digital Business Lounge. With the entire system about to become a retail product product that anyone can use, it’s undergone some steroid like enhancements recently. I spent some time playing with the beta version yesterday and was mondo impressed. Especially since as an SFM member I will have exclusive reseller rights!

If you’re not familiar with lead capture pages they are basically single page promotional websites which “capture” email addresses from anyone interested in finding out more about what they promote. They are then added to your email management or auto responder system. That system can send out a series of pre-written emails to all the stored email addresses it contains. If you click on a banner, advert or text link you’ll most often be taken to a landing page where the digital marketing process begins.

The landing page has a form in it to collect email addresses and redirect the interested party to the next part of the process.

They are a vital part of digital marketing as they also integrate with email marketing software used to build lists of subscribers. Simple lead capture has been part of the Digital business lounge for some time but to be honest it was a little faffy to use – until now.

Yes there were great templates which could be customised in lots of ways – adding video, your own images and text etc. The tricky part was integrating the pages you built with an auto responder like Aweber. With the old set up in building Simple lead capture pages you needed to ping pong between it and the auto-responder programme.

This meant creating the form in the auto responder, generating a code and copying that into Simple lead capture. Easy once you’d done it a few times but still kind of laborious. That’s all changed now however hurrah!

In the new simple lead capture pages generator everything is one place. It’s push button simple to link whatever email software you use. There are new style page templates, much better editing functions and some additional features that are going to make this a hugely desirable retail product. It’s obvious that Stuart Ross and his team have been doing a lot of behind the scenes work here.

Having all this is one place is pretty awesome. To give you an example here’s the process involved in creating a simple lead capture page within DBL.

Simple Lead Capture Pages – Step By Step

You choose one of the templates (these are regularly added to). Next select an image from the increasingly large, built in library or upload one of your own into the included graphics library. You edit the text to suit and use the editor to adjust fonts, text colour and size.

If you want to add a youtube video you can simply add the Youtube embed code or: Run it first through the DBL’s Yourtube player to hide the controls, set it to autoplay, disable the suggested videos and link to Youtube. Then take the new embed code and add that to your shiny new landing page. That way the viewer sees only what you want them to see.

From there you simply link up your list building auto responder with a simple click and save the page. That page will now have a long url associated with it. You just pop that into the DBL’s tidy url programme and shorten it to something much neater and well… shorter! Done!

One further thing. Normally when someone inputs their email address and clicks through to the next thing from your simple lead capture pages they are taken to a thank you page. Guess what – you can now create custom thank you pages within simple lead capture.
